M.S.Ed Higher Education & Student Affairs

Personal & Ethical Foundations (PEF)
This competency developed quickly upon my arrival at IU, as working with students requires clarity and confidence when addressing ethical and professional matters. My values are evident in my work, and my morals guide team discussions, and my advising philosophy forms the foundation of how I engage with students. At the same time, cultivating strong personal foundations, such as healthy habits and balance outside of work, has required intentional effort. There are moments when personal values and professional expectations conflict, and making judgement calls in those situations can be challenging. Reflection on these tensions is an ongoing part of student affairs and navigating them has strengthened both my professional skills and my commitment to maintaining personal integrity.
